Thinspace XP Embedded Solutions Benefit Leading Shopping Centre

2010-02-15

Thinspace prides itself for being agile and flexible when it comes to helping customers obtain the exact solution they require for their own environment. The recent collaboration with Prudential Property Investment Managers, the largest institutional property investor in the UK, to refresh the IT infrastructure of their Milton Keynes shopping centre, thecenter:mk, is another testimonial to Thinspace’s capability to deliver to the specific requirement of an end user organisation.

Milton Keynes is now one of the UK’s biggest shopping experiences with expanded retail facilities and leisure attractions. thecentre:mk is a stimulating, bustling regional shopping quarter located in the heart of Milton Keynes. It provides an exciting, dynamic and vibrant mix of retail, dining and civic spaces that link shopping to the rest of the city centre.

There are over 240 stores, restaurants and cafés. John Lewis, Marks & Spencer, House of Fraser, flagship health and beauty store Boots, Next, Bhs and the premier HMV store can all be found here.

The forward thinking Prudential Property resolved to offer individual retailers within thecentre:mk greater flexibility by equipping them with Windows Embedded mobile solutions, following previous successful implementation of Thinspace desktop thin client solutions for the Manchester Arndale, the UK’s first paperless shopping centre.

The Thinspace TST710 netbook client was chosen as the ideal candidate for deployment. It is stylish, easy to carry, and comes with the powerful Intel atom processor, and the incredibly flexible Windows XP Embedded operating system.

What is more, Thinspace ensured that all Prudential’s customisation needs were fully met, and any specific software pre-loaded to simplify its IT team’s deployment process.

Equipped with the Thinspace devices, the individual retailers can now access the Retailer Intranet developed by thecentre:mk, enabling them to promote store offers and news, view centre footfall, advertise job vacancies etc. They can also email the centre management, manage their store’s online and touchscreen profile, and access the online retailer notice board.
